What we collect

• What you tell us you are doing — the activity you pick, like Cooking or Studying.
• How you listen — which songs play, get skipped, and get a heart, so waves get better.
• Your account — how you signed in, your name in the app, and your age band.

What we never collect

• Your music never passes through us. Playback happens through your own Apple Music on your phone. We never receive, store or stream audio.
• No date of birth. You pick an age band (13–17, 18–24, 25–34, 35+). We never ask for, and cannot store, your birthday.
• No precise location. Where TunedWaves uses location at all it is rounded to an area roughly the size of a neighbourhood — never a point on a map, never a distance to anyone.
• Nothing you type, except the name you go by in the app. There is nowhere else in TunedWaves that accepts typed text, so there is nothing else of yours to keep.

Two switches, in your control

Both live in Settings and you can change them any time:

• Personalisation — "Uses what you play to pick better waves." When it is off, your listening is recorded without your name on it. If you are under 18 it starts off.
• Anonymous trends — "Grouped with everyone else. Never your name." When it is off, your listening stays out of our trends entirely — not just out of the results.

Trends are groups, never people

We publish and sell things like "what the UK cooks to" — always built from groups of at least 50 people, so no number can point back at anyone. We never sell anything about you as an individual, to anyone, ever.

How long we keep things

• Listening records: 13 months, then they are folded into group numbers and deleted.
• Notification records: 90 days.
• Reports and moderation records: 6 years.
• If you ask for a feature on our journey page and leave an email, we keep that email for 12 months and then remove it; what you wrote stays, without it.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from this site. It happens straight away: your account, your name in the app and your saved music go, and within 30 days nothing about your listening stays connected to you. Your freed name rests for 90 days before anyone else can take it.

Your rights, and who we are

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — write to us at hello@tunedwaves.com and a person will answer. We are Tuned Waves Ltd, company SC897154, registered office 48 West George Street, Glasgow G2 1BP, registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office as ZC209791. If you are not happy with how we have handled your data you can also raise it with the ICO at ico.org.uk.

This website

This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and it does not follow you around the internet.

There are three places you can leave an email address. The Ask-for-it box on our journey page: kept for 12 months, then removed, and what you wrote stays without it. The freshers draw form: used only to run the draw, and deleted within 30 days. The ambassador application: kept for 12 months while we recruit, then deleted — successful or not — and gone sooner if you ask.

One page is different: when you delete your account, you sign in first so we know it is you. That sign-in lasts only as long as the page is open, and nothing about the visit is kept afterwards.
